The Yankees put Giancarlo Stanton on the injury list

The Yankees announced a series of moves before tonight’s match with the Orioles. Most notable, some hit / right athlete Giancarlo Stanton is directed to the list of injured for 10 days due to strain on the right calf. New York also put relief Jonathan Loisiga in IL 15 days and fixed catcher Rob Bradley for assignment. The Yankees welcomed in similar moves Joey Gallo returned from the list of injured COVID-19. They also remembered comforting JP Sears and David McKay from Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre.

Stanton was one of the best players for the AL Yankees’ top. He mashes in a clip 0.285 / .339 / .523 and the 11 of the home run equal him for the fifth place in the MLB. The large sluggard has a personal low gait rate of 8.3%, but does more than enough damage to the contact to compensate for the corresponding drop in baseline. Stanton was a key part of a team that was one of the best in the league. Aaron Judge plays at MVP pace in the first month and a half of the season, with Stanton and Anthony Rizzo also offers medium caliber production.

Unfortunately, Stanton is also not unknown on the injury list. He landed in IL due to leg problems each of the last four years. Stanton missed a significant portion of the 2019 campaign due to a sprained right knee and then lost more than half of the shortened 2020 season by stretching his left thigh. The 32-year-old had a shorter IL period due to left quadriceps strain last year and will obviously lose some time with his current condition. The timetable remains unclear, but director Aaron Boone briefed reporters last night (via New York Post’s Joel Sherman) that he went for an MRI after he left yesterday’s game with a tightness in his calf.

The Yankees have been hit hard by injuries in recent days. New York lost pitchers Chad Green and Lewis Gill at Tommy John proceedings at the weekend. Closer Aroldis Chapman struck IL with Achilles tendonitis yesterday, and Boone told reporters this afternoon that Loáisiga was going to IL with shoulder discomfort. The team’s official diagnosis for Loáisiga is inflammation of the shoulder.

New York welcomes Gallo back to the lineup a few days after he was on the virus list. The terrifying attacker hit IL on Sunday as part of a Yankee trio suffering from flu symptoms, but also Kyle Higashioka they returned quickly. Gallo is able to fit in any corner, but is struggling this season, having only one .176 / .294 / .333 line in 119 record appearances.

Brantly was selected in the 40-man roster when Higashioka came out to offer some peak back depth Jose Trevino. With Higahioka now back, Brantly loses his place on the roster after appearing in a game. The 32-year-old has seen brief major action in the last four years, but has not counted more than 40 MLB appearances in a season since 2013. unsolicited resignations.
