Samsung’s latest tablet sounds right from 2020

Meet the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 – same, but different, but still the same

The Android tablet did not have the easiest way. Even when many OEMs abandoned tablet manufacturing, Samsung remained strong with its Galaxy Tab line – and deservedly gained a reputation as the only serious Android-based competition for the iPad. Now the tablets are finally getting the attention they deserve thanks to Android 12L (and soon, Android 13) as well as the upcoming release of the Pixel tablet. We have a long time to wait until it gets here, but this week Samsung keeps things interesting with its own “new” tablet: an update to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Samsung’s new concept for this 2020 model appeared quietly on Amazon Italy (via SamMobile) without any big announcement or fanfare from Samsung. But do not let the familiar name fool you – there are actually some differences that you would like to know and that can make this market a worthwhile purchase.

The ANDROIDPOLICE VIDEO OF THE DAY

First of all, the Exynos 9611 10nm chip inside the original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite exchanges with a faster and more efficient Snapdragon 720G. Applications often perform a little better on Snapdragon silicon, and the chip should allow for significant performance improvements across the board – even if that component also comes at age two.

Samsung launches new Tab S6 Lite with One UI 4.1 based on Android 12. As an upgrade, the original model was released with Android 10, and while it is currently upgradeable to Android 12, it will only release a major version further (Android 13 ) before being transferred to a system only for security information and finally reaching the EOL. Meanwhile, if Samsung’s latest Android update promise comes true, this new tablet should be good until Android 16 (and if for some reason it sticks to the same update policy as the older duo, it will bring us to Android 15).

If you want to get one, Amazon Italy pre-ordered list costs € 400. It said “unavailable” last time we checked, but maybe you’s better than us. Hopefully Samsung will confirm this soon and complement us with plans for other markets.
