Pixel 6 owners are not thrilled with Google’s overpriced, yellowed cases

Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro users are not impressed with Google’s $ 30 premium cases. Looking at Reddit and the reviews on Amazon, there are dozens of people complaining about the transparent plastic that shows excessive yellowing, warping or just not placing the phone from the factory. Some users have posted some disgusting pictures of their cases, saying that they have been downgraded from several months to just two or three weeks. An author here at The lip says their case is also beginning to look “a little bleak”.

Although there are many positive reviews of the cases, it is difficult to ignore the number of complaints. It also seems unlikely that this is simply due to a bad batch of cases. There is a thread on Reddit that has been protesting the issue since January and one with almost the same complaints just a few hours ago. Some reviews also mention that the cases are starting to change shape around the buttons or the bottom, which would make me personally worry about its ability to protect my phone. Google did not respond immediately The liphis request for comment on whether these were known issues.

One of the many Amazon reviews we found that shows a less serious case of stigma.

Anyone who has bought a $ 10 translucent phone case is likely to very familiar with this kind of rapid discoloration. For the most part, it’s just a reality with translucent plastics. Even many of the negative reviews admit that they expected the discoloration to happen at some point. They just did not expect it to happen in a few weeks or months, nor did they expect it to look so bad when it did. Personally, I do not think I’ve seen it that bad since the early 2010s.

My author’s case does not have the ugly spots, but it has not aged gracefully.

Again, however, this is not an opportunity without a name. is one that is sold and is branded by the same company that makes the phones. There is also the added sting that this is a problem that Google has solved in the past. Some of my colleagues had fond memories of the fabric cases the company made for phones like the Pixel 4A and Pixel 5, as well as some Reddit commentators (though there were also a number of complaints). Obviously, these did not have the same yellowing issue and if they get dirty, you could clean them relatively easily.

Fortunately, there are a lot of third party Pixel cases these days, but it’s a little disappointing that getting the official one is such a bet. At least these reports have started to appear before The Pixel 6A has been released. If Google offers similar cases for its budget-friendly phone, it might be best to avoid it unless the company announces that it has resolved the issue.
