AYA Neo 2 gaming laptop with Ryzen 7 6800U coming later this year

AYA gaming PC maker has announced plans to release a new model powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor with RDNA 2 graphics later this year.

The upcoming AYA Neo 2 is the latest in a range of AMD-powered handsets from the company, but will be by far the most powerful to date.

The original AYA Neo and AYA Neo Pro were released with Ryzen 4000U series processors with AMD Radeon Vega graphics, while the AYA Neo NEXT brought a modest upgrade with Ryzen 5000U chips, which had the same GPU architecture.

Switching to a Ryzen 7 6800U chip for the next-generation portable device, AYA promises a boost in graphics performance thanks to AMD’s built-in RNA + 680M graphics based on RDNA 2 architecture, along with a more modest boost in CPU horsepower.

This could make the AYA Neo 2 much more competitive with Valve’s Steam Deck, which is currently the only laptop with RDNA 2 graphics. Of course, the Steam Deck also has a starting price of $ 399, which is difficult to be overcome – most AYA handhelds tend to sell for more than double.

The company says the handset can handle AAA games as well as normal computer workloads.

AYA has not yet revealed the price for the new model and we will probably have to wait a bit for details on things like screen size and resolution, battery capacity and other basic specifications. However, the company has confirmed that the AYA Neo 2 will feature LPDDR5-6400 memory, PCIe 4.0 storage, a fingerprint reader and USB 4.0 ports.

And we have a series of pictures that show the design of the upcoming hand.

AYA Neo Air is expected to be released near the end of 2022.

However, it is not the only new AYA mobile phone to come this year. The company also plans to release a lower cost (and lower performance) AYA Neo Air, slim and lightweight OLED gaming laptop. It is expected to be released for pre-order in China by the end of May, in view of its worldwide release.
